At the heart of our mission is our Youth Internship Program, in which high school and college aged young adults are brought in to serve as the leadership in the After School Program.  While these young people are often the natural leaders amongst youth in the community, they are often disadvantaged by an absence of opportunity and mentors to help them grow.  Shalom of Oakland offers mentorship and training to these young people while guiding them in leadership development and spiritual growth.  We hold weekly Intern meetings in a small group atmostphere with prayer and group discussion.  These Interns are taught personal responsibility and rewarded for excellence, as they are regularly evaluated and given opportunities for raises throughout the year.  Youth Interns start at a stipend of $150 per month and can reach up to $250 per month.  We have designed this process to be nothing short of a life altering experience for these young leaders.
